GENERAL APPEARANCE : Compact, elegant and sound with substance.
BEHAVIOUR AND TEMPERAMENT : Keen, alert, gay and sporting; discerning and devoted.
HEAD
CRANIAL REGION :
Skull : Long, flat and narrow, level and wedge-shaped, without showing cheek muscles.
FACIAL REGION :
Nose : Jet black.
Muzzle : Well filled up under eyes, tapering.
Jaws/Teeth : Jaws level, with perfect and regular scissor bite, i.e. upper teeth closely overlapping the lower teeth and set square to the jaws.
Lips : Tight.
Eyes : Small, dark and sparkling. Almond-shaped, not prominent.
Ears : Small and V-shaped, carried well above top line of head and hanging close to head above eyes.
NECK : Fairly long and tapering from shoulder to head and slightly arched at crest; free from throatiness.
BODY : Short, slightly arched over the loin.
Ribs : Well sprung.
Underline : Cut up behind ribs.
TAIL : Short and set on where arch of back ends, thick where it joins body, tapering to a point, carried not higher than level of back.
LIMBS
FOREQUARTERS : Forelegs quite straight, set on well under dog; proportionate length to body. Front narrow and deep.
Shoulders : Clean and well-sloped.
HINDQUARTERS : Strong and muscular. Hindlegs neither cow-hocked nor with feet turned in.
Stifle : Well bent.
FEET : Small, semi-harefooted and strong with well arched toes.
GAIT / MOVEMENT : Straight, free and balanced with good-reaching forequarters and driving power in hindquarters.
COAT
HAIR : Close, smooth, short and glossy, of firm texture.
COLOUR : jet black and rich mahogany tan distributed as follows:
on head, muzzle tanned to nose, nose and nasal bone jet black. Small tan spot on each cheek and above each eye, under-jaw and throat tanned with distinct tan V. Legs from knee downward tanned with exception of toes which shall be pencilled with black, a distinct black mark (thumbmark) immediately above feet. Inside hindlegs tanned but divided with black at stifle joint. Under tail tanned, vent tanned by markings as narrow as possible so that it is covered by tail. A slight tan mark on each side of chest. Tan outside hindlegs, commonly called breeching, is undesirable.
In all cases black should not run into tan or vice versa, but division between colours clearly defined.
SIZE :
Ideal height at shoulders: dogs 40-41 cm (16 ins); bitches 38 cm (15 ins).
FAULTS : Any departure from the foregoing points should be considered a fault and the seriousness with which the fault should be regarded should be in exact proportion to its degree and its effect upon the health and welfare of the dog.

GENERAL APPEARANCE : Small, low, keen dog, compact and strong with good substance and bone. Honourable scars from fair wear and tear not to be unduly penalised.
BEHAVIOUR AND TEMPERAMENT : One of the smallest of the terriers. Lovable disposition, not quarrelsome, tremendously active with hardy constitution. Gay and fearless.
HEAD
CRANIAL REGION :
Skull : Slightly rounded, wide, good width between ears.
Stop : Well defined.
FACIAL REGION :
Muzzle : Wedge-shaped and strong (length about one third less than measurement from occiput to bottom of stop).
Lips : Tight-lipped.
Jaws/Teeth : Jaws clean and strong. Rather large, strong teeth with perfect, regular scissor bite, i.e. upper teeth closely overlapping the lower teeth and set square to the jaws.
Eyes : Small, oval-shaped, dark, full of expression, bright and keen.
Ears : Erect, set well apart on top of skull. Medium size with pointed tips. Perfectly erect when aroused, can be laid back when not at attention.
NECK : Strong of good length, commensurate with correct overall balance, flowing into well laid shoulders.
BODY :
Back : Short, compact. Topline level.
Loin : Short.
Chest : Ribcage long and well sprung. With good depth.
TAIL : Docking optional.
· a) Medium docked. Set on high, completing perfectly level topline. Carried erect.
· b) Tail of moderate length to give a general balance to dog, thick at root and tapering towards tips, as straight as possible. Carried jauntily, not excessively gay, completing perfectly level topline.
LIMBS
FOREQUARTERS : Legs short, powerful and straight.
Elbows : Close to body.
Pastern : Firm and upright.
HINDQUARTERS : Broad, strong and muscular.
Stifle : Well turned.
Hocks : Low-set, with great propulsion.
FEET : Rounded, well padded and cat-like. Pointing straight forward standing and moving.
GAIT / MOVEMENT : Forelegs should move straight forward when travelling; hind legs follow in their track; hocks parallel and flexing to show pads.
COAT
HAIR : Hard, wiry, straight, lying close to body, thick undercoat. Longer and rougher on neck forming a ruff to frame face.
Hair on head and ears short and smooth, except for slight whiskers and eyebrows.
COLOUR : All shades of red, wheaten, black and tan or grizzle. White marks or patches are undesirable.
SIZE :
Ideal height at the withers: 25-26 cm (10 ins).

GENERAL APPEARANCE : Thick-set, of suitable size to go to ground, short-legged, alert in carriage and suggestive of great power and activity in small compass. Head gives impresssion of being long for size of dog. Very agile and active in spite of short legs.
BEHAVIOUR AND TEMPERAMENT : Loyal and faithful. Dignified, indépendent and reserved, but courageous and highly intelligent. Bold, but never aggressive.
HEAD : Long without being out of proportion to size of dog.
CRANIAL REGION :
Skull : Length of skull enabling it to be fairly wide and yet retain narrow appearance, nearly flat.
Stop : Slight but distinct between skull and foreface just in front of eye.
FACIAL REGION :
Nose : Large and, in profile, line from nose towards chin appears to slope backwards.
Muzzle : Foreface strongly constructed and deep throughout. Skull and foreface of equal length.
Jaws/Teeth : Teeth large with perfect and regular scissor bite, i.e. upper teeth closely overlapping the lower teeth and set square to the jaws.
Cheeks : Cheek bones not protruding.
Eyes : Almond-shaped, dark brown, fairly wide apart, set deeply under eyebrows with keen, intelligent expression.
Ears : Neat, fine texture, pointed, erect and set on top of skull but not too close together. Large, wide-based ears highly undesirable.
NECK : Muscular and of moderate length.
BODY : Topline of body straight and level.
Back : Proportionately short and very muscular.
Loin : Muscular and deep.
Chest : Well rounded ribs flattening to deep chest and carried well back. Powerful coupling ribs to hindquarters.
TAIL : Moderate length giving general balance to dog, thick at root and tapering towards tip. Set on with upright carriage or slight bend.
LIMBS
FOREQUARTERS : Head carried on muscular neck of moderate length showing quality, set into sloping shoulders. Chest fairly broad and hung between forelegs. Brisket well in front of straight, well boned forelegs.
Elbows : Must not be out nor placed under body.
Pastern : Straight.
HINDQUARTERS : Remarkably powerful for size of dog. Big, wide buttocks.
Thigh : Deep.
Stifle : Well bent.
Hocks : Short, strong, turning neither in nor out.
FEET : Good size, well padded, toes well arched and close-knit, forefeet slightly larger than hindfeet.
GAIT / MOVEMENT : Smooth and free, straight both back and front with drive from behind and level gait throughout.
COAT
HAIR : Close-lying, double coat; undercoat short, dense and soft; outer coat harsh, dense and wiry, together making a weather-resisting covering.
COLOUR : Black, wheaten or brindle of any shade.
SIZE AND WEIGHT :
Height at withers 25,4-28 cm (10-11 ins); weight 8,6-10,4 kg (19-23 lbs).

GENERAL APPEARANCE : Free-moving, active, balanced and of great substance in small compass. General outline oblong, not square.
BEHAVIOUR AND TEMPERAMENT : Sturdy, game and workmanlike. Alert and fearless but of friendly disposition.
HEAD
CRANIAL REGION :
Skull : Slightly domed and wide between ears.
FACIAL REGION :
Nose : Black.
Muzzle : Punishing square jaws, powerful and long.
Jaws/Teeth : Teeth level and strong with canines fitting well into each other and long for size of dog. Jaws strong with regular scissor bite, i.e. upper teeth closely overlapping the lower teeth and set square to the jaws.
Cheeks : Cheek bones not protruding.
Eyes : Dark, well set, round, of medium size. Dark, pigmented eyerims preferred but unpigmented tolerated.
Ears : Medium-sized, slightly rounded at tip and carried at side of cheek.
NECK : Fairly long, thick and muscular on well laid shoulders.
BODY : Medium in length, flexible.
Back : Level.
Chest : Broad and deep, well let down between forelegs.
Ribs : Well sprung.
TAIL : Customarily docked.
Docked : Medium length. Thick with a rounded tip. Set in line with back and carried erect. Quarters should protrude beyond set of tail.
Undocked : Medium length of tail to give a general balance to the dog. Thick at root and tapering towards tip. Ideally carried erect, but not excessively over the back, and with no curl or twist. Quarters should protrude beyond set of tail.
LIMBS
FOREQUARTERS : Forelegs short, strong and as straight as possible consistent with chest being well down.
Shoulder : Point of shoulder in line with point of elbow.
Elbow : Should be close to side of chest.
HINDQUARTERS : Notably powerful for size of dog.
Thighs : Deep and muscular.
Stifle : Well bent.
Hocks : Strong, well bent and parallel to each other.
FEET : Round and catlike with thick pads. Feet pointing directly forward.
GAIT / MOVEMENT : Brisk and vigorous with plenty of drive.
COAT
HAIR : Long, hard and wiry topcoat with weather-resistant undercoat.
COLOUR : All white or white with lemon, brown, blue or badger pied markings on head and ears. Much black and heavy ticking undesirable.
SIZE AND WEIGHT :
Height should not exceed 31 cm (12 ins) at shoulder.
Ideal Weight : Dogs approximately : 9 kg (20 lbs),
Bitches approximately: 8,2 kg (18 lbs).

GENERAL APPEARANCE : Long, low and profusely coated, twice as long as high. Moves with seemingly effortless gait. Strong in quarters, body and jaw.
BEHAVIOUR AND TEMPERAMENT : Elegant and dignified. A « one-man » dog, distrustful of strangers, never vicious.
HEAD : Long and powerful, strengh not sacrified for extreme length.
CRANIAL REGION :
Skull : Of moderate width at the back of skull, tapering gradually to strong muzzle.
Stop : Slight.
FACIAL REGION :
Nose : Black.
Muzzle : Strong.
Jaws/Teeth : Jaws strong and level with perfect, regular scissor bite, i.e. upper teeth closely overlapping the lower teeth and set square to the jaws.
Eyes : Brown, preferably dark brown, medium in size, close-set and full of expression.
Ears : Prick or drop. When prick, gracefully feathered, not large, erect at outer edges and slanting towards each other at inner edge, from peak to skull. When drop, larger, hanging straight, lying flat and close at front.
NECK : Long and slightly crested.
BODY : Long and low. Sides appear flattish due to straight falling coat.
Back : Level.
Loin : Short.
Chest : Deep; ribcage oval, deep and long.
TAIL : When hanging, upper part pendulous and lower half thrown back in a curve. When raised, a prolongation of incline of back, not rising higher nor curling up. Gracefully feathered.
LIMBS
FOREQUARTERS : Legs short and muscular.
Shoulders : Broad, close to body.
HINDQUARTERS : Strong, full, well developed and well angulated.
Legs short, muscular and straight when viewed from behind. No dewclaws.
FEET : Forefeet larger than hind, pointing truly forward. Pads thick, nails strong.
GAIT / MOVEMENT : Legs proceed straight forward when travelling. When approaching, forelegs form a continuation of straight line of front, feet being same distance apart as elbows. Principal propelling power is furnished by hind legs which travel straight forward. Forelegs moving well forward, without too much lift. Whole movement termed free, active and effortless and gives a more or less fluid picture.
COAT
HAIR : Double. Undercoat short, close, soft and woolly. Outer coat long, hard, straight, flat and free from curl. Hair on head shorter, softer, veiling forehead and eyes. Mingling with side locks, surrounding ears like a fringe and allowing their shape to appear.
COLOUR : Black, dark or light grey, fawn, cream, all with black points. Any self colour allowing shading of same colour and lighter undercoat, so long as nose and ears are black. A small white spot on chest permissible.
SIZE :
Ideal height 25-26 cm (10 ins), length from tip of nose to tip of tail 103 cm (41˝ ins). Bitches slightly smaller in same proportions.
